Armors and Protections

Turbine has just revealed the explanation of the protections, how they can be compared, what are they to do with AL value. On every armor there is an AL (Armor Level) and 7 different type of protections. There is a mapping table and the AL is just multiply by these values to get the exect AL for that kind of protection.

The mappings:

That map shows us that if you have an armor that has 200 AL with no protection against to cold means you are naked against that cold melee or missle (non-Magic) attack. If you hvae on the same armor poor fire prot. that means you have 40 AL against fire damage (like maountain rats). And with the unparallel acid prot. you will have 400 AL against acid damage and that is a lot. So most people complain the armory system by dont knowing that fact and getting angy abaut ash grommies because theri chainmale leggings has no prot against lightning which ash’s are doing damage in that way. The highest AL is not so important but the highest protection is much effective.

And there is available methods to improve the protection level by using Bane’s on the armor by casting in item magic. So if you know item magic you can cast bane’s on your armor and with highest bane you will get the hihgest protection. But casting any bane on unparalleled prot. does not change anything further. You can also have some armors that have their own bane’s on.

But the bane spell does not have any effectiveness against the hallow weapons like lugies or black breath at BZ lair uses. With that situation you should have on baned armors or very good armor that has high elemental prots on like GSA, matty coat or robe (robe with imp wont work either). The lugies are easy becasue almost every armor has average prot against slash, bludg, pierc. which lugies are use. Having high AL armor do exectly the same protection with AL value. But in the BB situation not every armor has average or above acid or any other kind of elemental prot. So as far as the banes that you cast are not works, you can calculate the AL for the elemantal prot and decide to choose which armor is best for you.
